Western firms increasingly look at Asia as a major new market for their existing products and an inexpensive alternative venue for conducting clinical development and manufacturing operations. Representing nearly two-thirds of the world's population, this diverse powerhouse is expected to play a much larger role in coming decades in bringing innovative products to market.

As they get more involved in Asia, biopharma manufacturers are becoming more sophisticated about how they navigate in different countries. For larger companies, the efforts are not new, only they are more intense, with much greater commitment and resources behind them than in the past. The stakes are higher and companies must take a pragmatic, tactical perspective, even as they are drawn to the strategic opportunities. For small companies, engaging in Asia for the first time, with limited resources, means assessing accurately the intricacies of individual countries, as well as the best approaches to working in the region as a whole.

This year's PharmAsia Summit brings Asian, US and European industry leaders to San Francisco to share their experiences and help both those working directly in Asia and those situated in the West but involved in Asian operations or planning Asia strategy to better understand the myriad of complex challenges and equally attractive opportunities facing them.

BEYOND THE BASICS! PharmAsia Summit is the only event featuring marquee-level speakers and topics by the powerhouse editorial team from IN VIVO, Start-Up, "The Pink Sheet" and PharmAsia News.
